Flights to Panama - location of Airport(s)

Panama currently has one international airport (Tocumen Airport) located just outside Panama City. On your first trip to Panama, it’s most convenient if you’re able to meet your host or tour guide at the airport. This because, the roads on not always clearly marked and driving can be slightly challenging at first. Once you know your way around, you’ll have little trouble driving in Panama.

If you’re going on to the cities of David, Boquete or Bocas del Toro, then you will probably catch a domestic flight from Tocumen. You can also drive to David (approx. six hours) but flying is a great option.

The local governments are planning to build a second international airport near David (actually expand the current airport for international flights) but it will probably be years before the funding is available and the expanded airport completed.
